Have £23,999 spare? Then bag yourself the most elegant, monstrous PC of all

8Pack OrionX | 8

The 8Pack OrionX is what you’d call a masterpiece. It provides a new vision for what a desktop PC can be and the result is a jaw-dropping system featuring only the fastest cherry-picked components, including four TITAN X GPUs. It also uses three fully-custom watercooling loops to keep all hardware temperatures in check.

Built by Ian ‘8Pack’ Parry, one of the world’s most famous overclockers and part of the team at Overclockers UK, the system provides what you might call an “irresponsible level of power”. The OrionX houses two desktop systems, one using the enthusiast’s workstation X99 platform, and the other using the latest Intel high-end platform Z270 (Kaby Lake). The two systems work separately from one another, but in tandem, thanks to the godly Super Flower Leadex ‘8Pack Edition’ 2000W PSU located at the base of the tower. One system can be used for a heavy rendering session, while you play your favourite game, or work on a separate project on the other – without breaking a sweat.

Running two systems in one PC creates a large degree of heat, so 8Pack needed the best watercooling hardware to match the level of insane specification. Each system’s main components therefore have separate water cooling loops to be able to dynamically control the fans and pumps to keep noise and temperatures down. This is what inspired the three-loop design; optimum cooling for all hardware and ultimate control.

There was some pretty insane tubing going on to connect these loops, where pass-through plates made from polished acrylic were used to guide the fluid around the walls and mid-plate of the case. Within these pass-through plates the fluid travels on several levels to create the ultimate look when illuminated. Going a step further, he included a two-layer pass-through allowing the GPU loop to run above the CPU loop. The GPU's being fed from the side instead of the usual underneath with the liquid appearing to zigzag across them.
