Overclock 3D Best of 2011 - Gigabyte GTX580SOC
“When it comes to GPUs there is a clear King of the hill and it's the GTX580. Of all the versions we saw this year one really captured our imagination with a great cooling solution and sledgehammer performance...”
Bit-Tech – Asus Matrix GTX580 Platinum Review
“you’re only paying £39 more for the quiet triple-slot cooler, the lightshow and all the power circuitry on the Matrix.
As such, the Asus more than justifies its price as a fast card that will last for ages. It's too large to fit inside many cases, but so much performance at such a low noise level makes it a very desirable card.”
Overclock3D.net - Gigabyte GTX580 Super Overclock Review
We love it, you'll love it. It's so phenomenal that not only is it worthy of our Gold Award, but our performance award too. Stunning.
Overclock 3D.net – PNY GTX580 Liquid Cooled Review
...the performance is exceptional. It's the fastest pre-overclocked GTX580 we're aware of, and yet it still has plenty of untapped power and can be pushed up to a fairly stratospheric 965MHz. Even better and unlike some cards we've tested the overclock makes a clear difference to the performance too. At "stock" it's very fast, but if you're willing to overclock it, and who wouldn't be, then it becomes blazingly quick.
Eurogamer - Preparing your PC for Battlefield 3
“To achieve a sustained 1080p60 at ultra settings, DICE itself recommends two top-of-the-line NVIDIA GTX580s running in SLI. However, in our testing with the beta we found that a single GTX580 in combination with a 3.33GHz Core i7 gave us around 55-60FPS in most cases. Best picks for a medium-priced graphics card would be the GTX560ti”
Pocket-Lint – Battlefield 3 review – It’s explosive
“...with an Nvidia 560 ti and up, [go for PC], it will blow your mind.”
Eurogamer – Tech Analysis: Battlefield 3 PC
“With Battlefield 3, it's satisfying to for once find a multi-platform game that still sets the PC version aside to show what could be possible in the next generation of hardware.”
Hexus – DICE talks up BF3 graphics in ‘behind the scenes’ videos
“From the GeForce LAN 6 event in San Francisco this week, we have a host of videos taken from a ‘behind-the-scenes’ keynote with Johan Andersson, DICE’s visual architect. Grab yourself a coffee, sit back, and enjoy this five-part video showcase.”
VG24/7 - Tomorrow's world: The rise and rise of PC gaming
“[the PC is the best experience], both through its application of innovative technologies and by offering a tangible glimpse of the future, and thus it ensures that rumours of its death continue to be greatly exaggerated.”

...the improvements on Nvidia's stock GTX 580 are quite drastic. Notably, Asus has fitted a three-piece cooler to a custom PCB equipped with the GPU. It occupies three slots and sports a LED load display and safe mode button, for when you've pushed the settings a bit too far.
Hexus
Powered by two GeForce GTX 580s, with a sprinkling of extra MHz on top, it's the fastest card we've ever tested. We applaud ASUS engineers for abandoning any sense of normalcy, and encompassing the sublime to the ridiculous, you'll know if you want it. Award: Hexus Innovation
Techradar
So here it is, the fastest DirectX 11 graphics card around today. No caveats here. There's none of the GTX 480's distraction over the dual-GPU HD 5970: this is as fast as it currently gets.
Bit-Tech
...the GTX 580 1.5GB is a seriously impressive card that justifies its price. It offers great performance that’s a meaningful step up from the previous generation, plus a cooler you can live with.
Hexus
Thunderously fast and relatively quiet for a truly high-end card... Fastest single-GPU card on the planet.
Hardware Heaven
The GeForce GTX 580 retains and enhances everything which was good about the GTX 480 and improves on every aspect which consumers had issues with. A very impressive and desirable graphics card.
PC Pro
There's no denying that right now the GTX 580 is the best single-GPU card money can buy - and a convincing start for Nvidia's latest series.
Hardware Heaven
If we had to pick one of the systems from this or the original launch review as gamers, we would lean towards the GTX 580. Our reasoning? A solid gaming experience at 1920x1080, no reliance on driver profiles, low noise cooling with smooth fan speed increases and the great 3D/PhysX solution.
Overclock3D.net
In the cold harsh world of hardware, where big is good, bigger is better and fastest is best, then you absolutely should rush out and buy the GTX580. It's a phenomenal achievement.
